Happy Burberry Day

You know I have been a New Yorker for the last 12 years. Being a New Yorker has lots of perks. Museums, 24 hour Diners, Central Park… in short New York has it all. One of the perks this great city offers to its residents is that we have one of the coolest mayors in the world.

Mayor Bloomberg recently added another point to his cool chart by declaring May 28 as the Burberry Day in NYC to celebrate the British brand’s new U.S headquarters.

Bloomberg said ““By placing its new headquarters for the Americas in midtown Manhattan and opening new stores here, Burberry is investing in the future of New York City, a worldwide hub for retail and fashion.”

To celebrate the day, the fifty-foot long sign at the top of its brand new head office (located at 444 Madison Avenue) was lit up for the first time, and yes of course there was also a celebration party.

Celebrities that attended to the celebration party were Claire Danes, Blake Lively, Rose McGowen, Lilly Donaldson, Jason Long, Molly Sims, Carla Gugino, and others.

You know these days rumors make the fashion world go ’round. Two days ago we heard a rumor that concerns La Lohan and Ungaro, and now the freshest one is about Karl Lagerfeld. According to A Shaded View on Fashion, Karl “The Kaiser” Lagerfeld decides not to renew his contract with Chanel. Also the same source reports that Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz will replace Lagerfeld at Chanel.

Lagerfeld is famous for being the biggest workaholic in the industry,so I really cannot imagine that he is leaving Chanel and retiring. But I guess we just have to wait and see.
